Oily,Acne,Clogged Skin? How to Keep Hyderated

I find that most of acne products are too harsh and leave your skin feeling tight and dry some times peeling? Most of time you starts using heavier creams and lotions,do you find this causes you to get more bumps and blemishes? Yah! I hear about these issues from my clients a lot, especially from those who are in their 20s, 30s and even some in their 40s. These are people who are out of their teen years and who no longer experience breakouts, but have a hard time trying to find the balance their skin needs. Here are five ways to ensure oily, combination, acne-prone skin can stay hydrated, balanced and healthy-looking, without causing breakouts.

1. Avoid using a harsh, acne-focused cleanser. acne cleansers are loaded with harsh detergents and strong ingredients designed to dry up breakouts on the skin. I like the idea of a gel (not forms)cleanser for this type of skin and it certainly can have breakout fighting ingredients like salicylic acid, but it just must be gentle. Secondly, listen to your skin. Even if the cleanser is sulfate-free, if it leaves you feeling dry, then you’ll have to find a gentler alternative. After cleansing, make sure to wait no longer than 60 seconds before applying your next product. If you leave your skin bare for any longer, moisture evaporation will occur.

Note: If you have post-breakout red, dark marks from blemishes, these are no longer active blemishes with infection so the strategy for treating these is completely different—and the focus should be on exfoliation, not drying out the skin with an acne cleanser. Read more here.

2. Always use an alcohol-free toner after cleansing to give your skin a boost of hydration. it’s a very effective way to deeply hydrate the skin. Since your type of skin still has oil underneath the surface (this is the reason why you still get clogged pores and breakouts), your skin mainly requires water and toners are a great way to get it. After washing your face, wipe an alcohol-free toner over the skin and then immediately apply a serum, like Skin Drink, followed by a moisturizer.

3. Stay connected with your skin care therapist for time to time advice and Give your skin an professional hydration treatment

4. When flying on an airplane or when in any dry climate, use a treatment oil or rebalance lotion and creams to protect the skin. I know you’re probably thinking, “An oil on my acne-prone skin? No way!” What you need to understand is that all oils are not equal and all are certainly not pore-clogging. Their purpose is to provide a layer of protection to make sure the hydration in your skin stays put and doesn’t evaporate out.

5. Always use products for your skin type. Talk to your skin care professional for best products for your skin type and the proper use of that products.
“I can’t tell you how many times clients have thought their skin is a certain type, when in fact it is something completely different”.

Find a professional with years of skin care experience and allow them to help you with your product selection. Be sure to thoroughly communicate your concerns so you get the appropriate advice. A good starting point to determining your skin type is to contact @ aura skin care and laser for advice

Like always my clients know I always suggest drinking plenty of water every day (I know you do) but the true benefit comes when you hydrate topically with serums and moisturizers. Water is best Skin Drink but work better with other skin care regimen.

Time to Glow in Fall

Time to glow in fall

Time to glow in fall

Your skin is the largest and most important organ known to your body. It has a tough job filtering toxins that you are exposed to as you move about your day. Smog, stress,UV rays, and second hand smoke are just a few of examples. Your skin also works to hold moisture in your body so you don’t become dehydrated. Skin protects your blood and organs from germs to keep you healthy, and it even protects your bones and muscles from damage when you happen to bump into things or sit out in the sun too long. Because your skin protects every single part of your body, it only makes sense to take good care of it.

Taking care of your skin results in more than just good health, it also does a good job of making you look young and healthy. These delicious foods below will make your skin glow from the inside out.

Avocados

Avocados are filled with antioxidants like lutein and beta carotene, which help to soften the skin and keep it looking supple. Blend avocados with orange juice and garlic to make salad dressings, stir it up with a little cumin and cilantro to make an easy dip, and add it to plant-based alfredo sauce for an extra creamy texture.

Blueberries

This low-profile berry was ranked number one in antioxidant activity by the U.S. Department of Agriculture compared to 40 common fruits and vegetables. The antioxidants in blueberries protect you from premature aging, so add half a cup to your yogurt or cereal every day.

Pomegranates

The high vitamin content and abundance of tannins in pomegranates promotes food all around health, and they promote smooth skin that is free of fine lines. Juiced pomegranates are super tasty when combined with greens. The juice can be enjoyed as is or blended in smoothies. Pomegranate seeds are awesome in salad too.

Walnuts

Thank to all the B vitamins found in walnuts, you can count on them to act as a natural anti-aging tool for your skin. Their oil works great as a moisturizer too.. Make your own anti-aging taco meat by pulsing walnuts with a little soy sauce, garlic, cumin, and lemon juice in your food processor. Walnuts are also delicious blended or stirred into both raw and cooked soups.

Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain an excellent source of lycopene, which may just help protect your skin from sun damage so it stays smooth and young looking as you age. To activate the lycopene benefits of your tomatoes, it’s important to cook them a little. Simmer them in a soup or bake a few to blend into a luxurious tomato hummus. You can also kick your salsa up a notch by fire roasting a few tomatoes to add to your fresh salsa mix.

Kale

You have seen kale touted as an antioxidant king no doubt, but do you know that’s it a skin care queen too? The abundance of vitamin A found in kale promotes proper skin cell growth and helps to keep your skin fresh and alive. Wilt your kale in a bath of lemon juice, garlic salt, and jerk seasoning for a fantastic side dish, or juice it with your favorite fruits.

Kiwi

The nutrient rich kiwi contains high amounts of vitamin E, which is a natural skin moisturizer and rejuvenator. Delicate kiwi is also an excellent source of dietary fiber that aids in ridding the body of toxins. Juice kiwi, add it to a fruit salad, or dice it up and top your salads with it.Kiwi is also excellent paired with strawberries and coconut whipped cream for dessert!

Pumpkin

Bright pumpkins have it all – vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Potassium and vitamins A and E are just a handful of key players when it comes to pumpkins benefiting your skin health.Pumpkin can be eaten in pie of course, but it is also tremendously tasty spiralized for pasta dishes, and pureed into soups and dips. Try dehydrating pumpkin chips for a fun afternoon snack.

Bell Peppers

Bell peppers contain tons of vitamin C that fights free radicals and keeps skin looking youthful. They also have anti-inflammatory properties that keep you from looking bloated, which always is a score. Use bell peppers are crudités paired with hummus or a roasted sweet pepper dip. Stuff your favorite colored bell peppers with quinoa, wild rice, or even stuffing – talk about yum.

Dark Chocolate

We won’t judge you if you keep a secret stash of chocolate in your purse or desk (or both). In fact, we recommend you do — especially if you’re willing to share. Dark chocolate helps skin stay hydrated and protects skin from sun damage, and contrary to popular belief, chocolate does not cause acne. Before you make a mad dash to Godiva or Ghirardelli, however, keep in mind that the best kind of chocolate has a high flavanol content and should be at least 60 percent cacao.

Yogurt

One cup of low-fat yogurt has more calcium than a cup of fat-free milk, which is great for your posture, nails, and teeth. Mix it with fruit or granola for a healthy breakfast or that essential mid afternoon snack.

Sweet Potatoes

You should be eating this super food more often than just at Thanksgiving. Sweet potatoes are packed with beta-carotene, an antioxidant that fights aging. Try them cut up and roasted with herbs or onions for an easy, awesome side.

You’ll be amazed at your glow when these foods play a recurring role in your meal plans. Keep things fresh and exciting by incorporating new spices every time you build a meal around your favorite healthy skin promoting foods. Maintain an Even Skin Tone for Asians

By Mamta Aug 26 2015

wedding 4

Asian women definitely have beautiful skin!  But for many Asian women, anti-aging is all about transforming skin into a darker or lighter, pale/brown shade, which is why Eastern Asia, China, Japan and Korea are big markets for skin whitening products. There, a light, fair skin tone is most desirable and is deeply rooted in the culture.

Avoid Smoking: Smoking causes cells to be starved of oxygen which results in dull, sallow, tired-looking skin. This will only add to the already yellow undertones of Asian skin.

Eat High-Antioxidant Foods: These fruits will give the skin anti-aging—from inside out:

  • Berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries) are loaded with vitamins and minerals as well as antioxidants to slow down the aging process.
  • Dark skinned grapes provide more than 20 age-defying antioxidants.
  • Citrus Fruits (lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruits) are all loaded with Vitamin C, the primary defense for anti-aging.
  • Cantaloupe supplies as much Vitamin A and C most people need in an entire day when one quarter of this delicious melon is eaten.

Get Regular Professional Facials: Facials (like the ones at aura Skin Care  and Laser) offer many benefits, but the three that most help Asian skin is the circulation-boosting effects (to keep the skin glowing), the exfoliation (to discourage brown spots from forming) and the skin brightening (to help lighten and fade skin discoloration).

Wear Sunscreen Daily:

The best way to prevent premature skin aging and lessen the development of brown spots

is to wear a sunscreen moisturizer 365 days a year, rain or shine, inside or out. Be sure to

apply it to the neck and exposed chest too. Our Daily Elta MD SPF40 works very well for

Asian skins without leaving a white layer cast on the skin.

Use a Skin Lightening Product: Because the skin is prone to discoloration, using a natural skin-lightening product daily under sunscreen can help prevent and fade stubborn brown spots. Product with Vitamin C, particularly Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate used in our Vitamin C&E Complex, is excellent for suppressing melanin activity, while being extremely gentle on sensitive Asian skin. Since discoloration comes out from heat and UV light, its best used every morning under sunscreen.

Keep the Skin Cool: Over-heated skin, from UV sunlight and even from exercise, will raise the temperature in the skin resulting in increased melanin activity. It’s important to keep the skin cool as much as possible. Post-workout, apply a cooling gel-based mask. (Contact to Mamta at aura skin care and laser for more information). This helps to instantly cool and calm the skin.

Exfoliate regularly, but gently: There’s no better way to keep Asian skin looking smooth, healthy and even-toned than with exfoliation products.

There are several ways to safely and gently exfoliate the skin:

  1. Facial Scrubs Asian skin can be sensitive so it’s best to avoid using facial scrubs with natural grains. They have sharp edges and can scratch and break the skin causing skin irritation. Instead, look for facial scrubs using polyethylene or micro bead lets that will gently roll across the skin. You’ll love our Stimulation and gentle exfroliant with Mint Buffing Beads and Micro Crystal Cream. (Contact at aura skin care for tips about how to safely use a facial scrub.)
  2. Mild Acid Serums These are considered chemical exfoliants because when applied to the skin and left on overnight, they chemically dissolve dry skin cells. These are nice because there is little effort required – you put it on under moisturizer and go to sleep. Try one of our Anti Aging Serums.
  3. Professional Skin Peels To give your skin a boost of exfoliation, above and beyond facial scrubs and Mild acid serums, professional skin peels are ideal for giving your skin amazing skin-smoothing results. You’ll love our Papaya and Pineapple Smoothing Peel and Pumpkin Smoothing Peel.

Follow these expert tips and you’re sure to keep your skin looking beautiful and glowing!

My Past Skin Care Sins

My Past Skin Care Sins acne scar on faceFor them I am paying at present

 Tuesday Aug 4 2015

Everything in our environment directly affects the skin and has an impact on its look and health. Environmental toxins and stresses can all have a negative impact.  The alternative aspect of medical esthetics is so important, because beauty is from the inside out. I want to clients to not only look better, but live and be better. With 10+ years of hands-on experience as an esthetician, I am well-versed in the tricks of the trade. I have advice on everything from your face wash to night care of your skin. Many people have confession; I do have a history of skin habits I’m not so proud of. So on the demand of clients and my profession, I try my best to educate my clients to find out about their skin care secrets, their past skin care sins (bad habits). These are most common confession from most of the clients:

SKIN CARE SINS (past bad habbits)

  1. “During my high school years in the late ’80s, I worked at a drugstore that sold tabletop suntan lamps. Since I was always trying to get away from being so ghostly pale, I gladly embraced the lamp in hopes of getting a deep, dark tan. Did you know that it’s possible to get severe sunburn and painful, oozing blisters from a lamp? Well, it is and I have. Ouch. Cause: Premature aging and scaring and chances of Basal cell melanoma.

“When I was 18, I occasionally used tanning beds, which have UVA rays that cause premature lines and wrinkles. Luckily, I soon learned the error of my ways and now want nothing to do with tanning of any kind.”

  1. “I smoked cigarettes as a teenager, but I gave them up for a New Year’s resolution one year and never touched them again”. My skin can definitely thank me for that! “  Did you know
  • A smoker’s skin can appear slightly gray because capillaries are dying and closing off, which reduces blood supply and oxygen?
  • Smokers  tend to have increased blackheads that appear on the tops of the cheeks, sides of the nose, upper lip and forehead (areas where the smoke accumulates).
  • Smokers will also experience increased wrinkling, especially on the cheeks and mouth, and under-eye puffiness from collagen damage.
  1. Picking/ squeezing Blemishes.“I used to be a terrible picker.”Now actually I am paying in present to do what I love — picking!” Do you know? Picking leads to terrible scarring and it only makes blemishes worse.
  2. Not Getting Enough Professional Skin Treatments.I recommend people get monthly facials, but with my busy schedule, sometimes I just can’t make it happen. I don’t always have the “me time” I want, generally I never skip my professional facial but if I skip a professional facial, I make sure to do a mini-facial at home (contact aura skin care laser for mini facial kit)

Everybody need at least one professional treatment in a month for skin specially face and neck to slow the aging signs.

  1. Not Protecting Hands From The Sun.“I have to admit that I’m not always good at remembering to put sunscreen on the tops of my hands before driving in the car, even though they are exposed to the same damaging UV rays as my face”. Wearing sun protection is essential for all exposed areas, since the number-one cause of premature skin aging (wrinkles, rough texture, brown spots) is unprotected sun exposure.

Now that those bad habits are out of the way, here are some important skin care rules I live by and I encourage my clients and readers to do the same.

SOME OF THE SKIN CARE RULES

  1. Avoid Sunlight In Airplanes.
  2. Use sunscreen and Reapplying at least every 2 hours.
  3. Increase Blood Circulation.Healthy skin has good blood flow. To achieve this, do some exercises to strengthen your facial muscles and improve your blood circulation.
  4. Limiting Dairy Intake.Although there is not much scientific evidence to back it up, I’ve found that dairy causes more acne . Many, many of my clients have also come to the same conclusion over the years. So learn to limit your dairy intake.
  5. Keep in touch with skin care professional on regular basis. Because your esthetician can keep records for your past and presents changes in your skin and advise you to how to handle the environmental, aging and hormonal fluctuation impacts on your skin.
